"Palestine state " ; our readiness to establish a state.

Through this blogging world I received many comments, notes and questions about our ( Palestinian ) readiness to build our own state. In fact I used to view such comments or questions as "provocations" and "nonsense" , nothing more. But now, as I am personally living and experiencing the real situation of the Palestinian Organizations, I am asking myself this question : are we really able to handle a 'state' ?
Hebron, which is the biggest city in the West-Bank, and second most important after Ramallah ( the center -or capital - of the West-Bank now ) is my example that I want to analyze to answer this question. Unfortunately there is NO single clue that gives you the impression that there are ORGANIZATIONS in Hebron. Almost all of the societies, establishments, charities, and non-governmental organizations are lacking the most important ingredients of a successful NGO. The administrative staff of almost all Palestinian NGOs is lacking the Leadership qualities, the vision and the capabilities to DO almost ANYTHING. Financially, these NGOs are more close to complete failure than to corruption. Employees are lacking training and even the experienced ones are lacking the professional capabilities. There is no training activity of any type in almost all NGOs. Actually without the direct financial support of donating foreign organizations ( Western or Arab ) most of local NGOs will not survive few months.

These facts, together with the structure of the Palestinian Society - which is strongly supported by loyalty to family and extended family- makes the answer closer : We are surely NOT able to handle a 'state' and we will probably not be able to do so even with foreign aid.

The few billions of dollars that the Palestinian National Authority received after the Oslo agreement were spent without ANY vision or planning. Hamas Government, which was replaced by Salam Fayyad Government few months ago, was the best example of how bad the situation REALLY is. Without direct financial support, we couldn't even survive for few months.

It is really very strange. How can we expect to build a state and a nation while having a blind leadership that has not been able to meet ANY of our expectations ? There will be NO hope for a Palestinian State unless the lead is given to a third hand, other than Hamas and Fatah ( at least in their current structure and ideology ).

Only until then we can really ask for a state of our own !

Cousin,

You'll never be able to establish a foreign state in the land of Israel.

You should consider establishing one in your own land- if at all.

First of All anonymous should get the facts straight. You're history is a little rusty my friend, I'd go brush up on it and come back with an educated response.

OSaid, thanks for the comment, I haven’t visited my blog in a while.

Its easy to blame it all on the disruption Israel has caused among the Palestinian factions, supporting one over the other...and we Palestinians are easily tempted when it comes to taking control of power and leadership, which makes us vulnerable to the temptation to side with the aggressors over our own!
We can make excuse for ourselves but it all comes down to lack of organization and focus on the common good. Otherwise we'd have the foresight to give our all when it comes to developing our establishments in hope and anticipation of future gain from doing so.

Your blog shows your frustration with the poor "image" of Palestinians. You complain about parading with guns and rockets in publicity efforts. The real problem is not the Palestinian "marketing" damaging the image. The core problem with the image is based in history and fact. Palestinians have packs of violent killers that murder innocents with the goal of murdering innocents. Palestinians "democratically" support these killers and their murderous philosophy. They even send their own children and themselves to suicide for the murderous cause. Is "murder" the Palestinian cause? Is it a state? Rockets at Israel every day? What possible benefit to Palestinians does your murderous behavior deliver? Getting Gaza back from Israel after Israel took it in a defensive war with Egypt?

It's all very complicated, but really quite simple.

Muslim culture values death more than life. Iraq is a perfect example. The Palestinian excuse that suicide bombers are just depressed about occupation and resort to killing themselves and taking Jews with them is dispelled by the daily suicide bombings by their brothers in Iraq.

Why even write this?

does palestine really need its own state when the jews have been rushed in and out from all over the world and hated and monopolized for their race?

I am appalled at all the comments here. So much hatred is spewed over.

I liked your post very much. It is hard for one to stand up and criticize their own country the way you did. If only enough of you do that, something can actually be done. Till Palestine doesnt solve its internal issues and comes up with a plan to stand on its own feet, what is the point of demanding a nation state?

and i repeat. I am amazed at the comments. Anonymous' comment especially.

i think fayyad is actually fine ... the problem is not necessarily the leadership ... it's the palestinian electorate that always votes either hamas or fatah ... the alternative to the two does not come because people won't support it
